An Overview of IBI |
The Pioneering Service Center for Zhongguancun Fengtai Science Park (i.e. Beijing IBI), founded in 1994, is the pillar supporting department of Zhongguancun Fengtai Science Park. Investigated by United Nations Development Program in 1996, Beijing IBI was authorized as one of the first three national pilot enterprises by State Science and Technology Commission. With the advantage of high-tech development, Beijing IBI has brought forward the operating guideline of "service for survival, unity for high efficiency, innovation for development" and established five innovation service systems, they are, venture training, information network, lab-equipment sharing, investing & financing and intermediary service. Based on five innovation systems, Beijing IBI formed its own innovation mode. And at the same time, Beijing IBI has established the incubator network with specialized incubators as main objects on both sides of "Sci-tech Street" in Fengtai District and constructed a regional technological area with three leading industries—Telecommunication, Bio-medical and Optical- Mechanical-Electrical industry. Within this incubation network there are 18 buildings with the total area of 22,0000 square meters.
After years of efforts, Beijing IBI has stepped into the fast-developing track. Beijing IBI has more than 1000 incubated enterprises which create the total technical, industrial and commercial incomes more than 10 billion RMB, tax revenue 400 million RMB and more than 10,000 job opportunities.
As "National High-tech Zone Advanced Incubator" awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and "Capital Civilization Model" by Capital Spiritual Construction Office, Beijing IBI has actively explored into an innovation mode of its own characteristics.
